Happy New Year 2020
Today is January 2, 2020. I have been off keto since October 28, 2019. That's when I had foot surgery. I was non-weight bearing for 4 weeks and Hubby was in charge of all the cooking. He tried, he really did, but most of what he made was not keto and I didn't want to make him feel bad so I simply ate what he prepared. And to his credit, he really is a good, I mean really good, cook. Then the holidays rolled around and of course I couldn't do keto during the holidays.....now could I? Okay, that was a really poor excuse, but it's the only excuse I could come up with.
Anyhow, here it is the second day of the new year. And not just a new year, but a new decade. This is my year. My year to finally get fit and take control of my life. Hubby and I are joining a gym tomorrow. There are lots of great deals going on right now and I actually like going to the gym. I went for a while but ended up quitting. More excuses.
I'm having a total knee replacement in mid-March, so even though I have exercises to do at home to get ready, I really want to add some gym work to help strengthen my legs before surgery as well as get a work out to help strengthen my core and upper body. I was pretty out of shape when I had my foot surgery and only became more out of shape this past couple of months. I'm tired of being overweight. I'm tired of being out of shape. I have let my weight, aches and pains and mental excuses stopping me from having an enjoyable life.
I jumped back onto the keto wagon again today. I was really happy with the results I achieved doing keto last year. I lost 60 pounds in 6 months. I was happy, my doctor was happy, Hubby was encouraging, life was good. Then I tore a tendon in my right foot and that was the end of keto for a while. Today is the first day back to doing what I love. Over the next year I hope to be able to share recipes and tips with all of you so you can make keto a way of life also.
You've seen me talk about the Carb Manager app. Today you'll get to see what it actually looks like. This is what I ate today. There are no recipes because I really didn't make anything. The kielbasa was leftover from yesterday, so was the sauerkraut. The mixed greens are pretty self-explanatory and breakfast was pretty basic. There will be recipes, just not today.
So, without further adieu' here's what my day looked like.
So, this was my day. You can see everything I ate. What my macros were. And just how simple keto can be. I will be posting recipes, as a matter of fact I'm writing a wonderfully easy crustless quiche that's filling, beautiful and only 3 net carbs per serving. I'm also working on a recipe for bone broth, which is as simple as putting a chicken in a crockpot.
You can do keto, it's really not hard and you don't need special "keto" foods. They're mostly expensive and I'll be showing you treats, breads, muffins and scones in future recipes so you can satisfy that sweet tooth for a whole lot less money than buying them at the store. As the holidays near we'll be looking at recipes for special meal, special occasions and just for something special.
Peace and Blessings,
Debbie G.
