What to drink?

So, what do you drink when you're doing keto? Well, I like sparkling waters both flavored and unflavored. These would include waters like Perrier and Pellegrino which can be very expensive. And since I'm not rich, I look for alternatives that are not quite as expensive. I've tried several, some were really, really good. Others.....not so much. But the one thing I look for is simply water, carbonation, and natural flavors, like this.
This particular drink can be found at Costco. We have a Costco "scratch and dent" store here where I live, so I get broken cases for pennies on the dollar. That's partly how I can afford to buy Perrier and Pellegrino, but I also buy broken cases of store brand waters as often as I can. I can easily drink a couple cases a week.

The biggest reason I buy mineral waters is that when you do keto, you sometimes lack certain minerals like potassium and magnesium and by drinking minerals waters I can replace those without taking supplements. When you do keto you need to drink a lot of water, so I might as well be drinking my minerals at the same time. I drink about a gallon of water a day which is about how much you should be drinking also.

It's always nice to find flavored waters too, like these. Of course, most stores carry flavored waters, but they may not contain minerals, so if I'm running low on mineral water I will drink half my daily intake with mineral water and half with flavored water. If I can not find flavored water, I'll buy spring water and simply add lemon, lime or cucumbers to help flavor it. Do what you like. You're the one drinking the water so in order to get your gallon a day in, do what you can afford and do what you like. If you can't afford mineral water you can always take supplements. The magnesium and potassium will help prevent leg cramps, which seem to plague people on keto. People say drinking pickle juice helps too, but since I've not done that, I can't really say. I do eat a lot of dill pickles though.

Either way, mineral, plain, flavored or even pickle juice I hope you come to enjoy your keto journey and learn this as a new lifestyle. If you eat and drink healthy your body will thank you.

Enjoy,
Debbie Gates
